We Have a New Blog, New Chicks, and an Exciting Giveaway!

Happy 2017!

We are so excited about what this year will hold. We've had big plans brewing for quite some time and it's our pleasure to finally share them with you!

First, welcome to our new blog! We will be filling this space with important updates about the Chicks, recaps of our adventures, exciting giveaways, news about Florida authors/events, and tips, tricks, and time savers for writers of all ages.

Second, we have decided to add on more YA Chicks! In an effort to offer schools, libraries, book festivals, writer's groups, and book stores the most well rounded and interesting presentation possible, we've added on what we feel are a dynamic, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic trio of new chicks who bring loads to the table in terms of expertise and experience. Allow me to introduce you!

Say hello to Lucienne Diver, Lynne Matson, and Racquel Henry!

Here is a little bit more about each (starting left to right):

Lucienne Diver is a Florida-based literary agent with The Knight Agency who has over twenty-three years of experience in the industry and represents over forty authors in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery/suspense, and young adult fiction. She regularly speaks at national writers conferences and has vast expertise to share on the publishing industry, the publishing process, and the craft of writing. She is also an author in her own right, having written the Vamped series for young adults and the Latter-Day Olympian series for adults as well as contributing to multiple anthologies. Her latest release is the YA thriller Faultlines, which NYT best-selling author Carrie Jones described as “Vivid, suspenseful, and charming, Diver creates a world where anything can happen in this must-read page-turner.”

Lynne Matson is the author of the acclaimed Nil series, a thrilling trilogy in which teens trapped on a mysterious island have exactly 365 days to escape, or die. NIL was awarded a VOYA Perfect 10 for 2014 and a starred review, and was selected as a TEEN Vogue hot summer read. Her books have been translated into several languages and are currently nominated for numerous state awards. A former lawyer, Lynne is now a full-time writer. She lives in Florida with her husband and four sons. Cookies are her kryptonite, especially Thin Mints. Lynne has spent the last three years traveling to schools to present on her books and the craft of writing and toured with the YA Chicks in the fall of 2015.

Racquel Henry is a Trinidadian writer and editor with an MFA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is also a part-time English Professor and owns the writing center, Writer’s Atelier, in Winter Park, FL. In 2010 Racquel co-founded Black Fox Literary Magazine where she still serves as an editor. She is a contributing editor for Burrow Press' Fantastic Floridas and the nonfiction editor of Fairleigh Dickinson University's alumni anthology. She is also a board member for The Jack Kerouac Project, an Orlando-based writing residency and has presented and moderated panels at writing conferences and residencies across the US. Her fiction, poetry and nonfiction have appeared in places like Blink-Ink, The Rusty Nail, Lotus-Eater Magazine, The Best of There Will Be Words 2014 Chapbook, UCF Creative Writing MFA Blog and Moko Caribbean Arts & Letters, among others.
